  1. When is registration?

    • Returning Teams: First two weeks of August (Captains are contacted with instructions via email)

    • New Teams: Last two weeks of August, but this rarely happens as teams usually return every season.

    • Players who have a Team: August till the end of February

    • On-Call Players: July till the end of February

  2. How much does it cost?

    • Algonquin Team Fee is $840 CAD which is $140 CAD each for a team with 6 players

    • Classic Team Fee is $1200 CAD which is $200 CAD each for a team with 6 players

    • On-Call List is FREE

  3. What is an On-Call List?

    • It is a list of players that don’t have a team but still want to play. Adding yourself to this list will increase your chances of joining a team.

  4. How many matches do we get?

    • Assuming there are no extended closures:

      • All Algonquin teams will get 25 matches (maximum of 3 games per match) between September and April. The top 4 teams will then proceed to the end of season tournament.

      • All Classic teams will get 28 matches (maximum of 3 games per match) between September and April. The top 8 teams and the top 2 teams of the bottom 4 will then proceed to the end of season tournament, competing for the Classic Cup and the Second Chance Cup respectively.

  5. How do I make a payment to Funtime Volleyball?

    • Please email transfer any funds to info@funtimevolleyball.com or if a cheque is being used, address all cheques payable to “Funtime Volleyball”.

  6. Can I get a refund?

    • Once the league starts, full refunds are no longer possible due to start of season expenses. If Funtime Volleyball must cancel some matches, Funtime Volleyball will do it’s best to re-schedule the missed matches and extend the season. If the league is cancelled pre-maturely due to external factors, Funtime Volleyball will look at the feasibility of providing a partial refund but only if more than 50% of the season remains. If a partial refund is issued, it would only be paid back to the captains as they are the ones that made the initial payment.

  7. What day and time are the games/matches?

    • Tuesdays (Algonquin League) at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9m. We play 3 games/sets in the hour.

    • Wednesdays (Classic League) at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm. We play 3 games/sets in the hour.

  8. How long is the season?

    • Runs from September to April

  9. Do you run any beach leagues?

    • We are not affiliated with any beach leagues.

  10. How many tournaments do you have in a season?

    • We always have an end of season tournament for each league that is included in your season registration fee, but we also host other tournaments throughout the year. Learn more about our other tournaments here. All additional tournaments are optional and have a separate cost.

  11. Do you have out-of-town tournaments?

  12. How old must you be to play?

    • 18 years of age or older

  13. Do you have to be a student at Confederation College to join?

    • No, we are not affiliated with Confederation College. We welcome everyone.

  14. Several people want to sign up. Is there an option to be on the same team?

  15. Can I register a team?

    • You can be placed on a waiting list. Just use our contact form on our site and choose: "Request to register my own team" as the subject and then provide any additional details you'd like to share. If a team drops, you will be notified when you come up on the list.

  16. When will we know if a team spot opens up?

    • Last two weeks of August

  17. I was on the On-Call List, but now I’m on a team. How do I remove myself from this list?

    • Just use our contact form on our site and choose: “Remove Myself” as the subject and then specify what you want to be removed from. We may have already removed you if we noticed your registration to join a team.

  18. How do I move a player from the On-Call List to my team?

    • You cannot. You must first ask that player to register with your team because we need them to sign a waiver form. Then, kindly send us an email so we know who to remove from the On-Call List.​

  19. How many players are permitted on the court per team?

    • Maximum 3 males, any number of females. Maximum 6 people on the court at a time.

  20. Can you kick the ball?

    • Yes, but typically as a last resort. Please be responsible.

  21. Can you jump serve?

    • Yes

  22. Do you offer time for training or practices?

    • We only give you 5 minutes prior to a match to warm up. You will have to contact the college or any other gym in Thunder Bay if you want to arrange practices or training.

  23. Who sets the game timer (Applies to Classic League only)?

    • The teams playing. Ideally, the teams that play at 6pm will setup the timer for the whole night.

  24. How do you set the game timer?

  25. What is the combination for the storage box?

    • All captains receive the code at the beginning of each season.

  26. How do I clean a volleyball?

  27. Who sets up the equipment?

    • Algonquin League​

      • The captains of the teams that play at 6pm are responsible for unlocking our storage box. The tearms are then responsible for setting up the polls, net and scoreboard. We recommend that you arrive at 5:30pm to give you ample time to setup before your games.​

    • Classic League

      • The captains of the teams that play at 6pm are responsible for unlocking our storage box. The teams are then responsible for setting up the antennas, scoreboards and timer. ​

  28. Who puts away the equipment?

    • Algonquin League

      • The teams that play at 9pm are responsible for putting away the polls and net into the storage room. The balls, scoreboard and anything else that was taken out of our storage box like our music speaker must be put back into our storage box and locked. Please put the storage box back in the storage room.​

    • Classic League

      • The teams that play at 10pm are responsible for putting away the balls, antennas (with Velcro sleeves), scoreboards, timer (with detached power adapter) and anything else that was taken out of our storage box like our music speaker. There is an inventory list in the storage box. Your captain or designate must then lock the storage box. The college staff will put away our storage box, along with the nets, polls and poll padding separately.

  29. Can I bring more than six (6) players to my matches?

    • Yes, you can bring up to your maximum of 12 registered players, but only 6 can be on the court. The other 6 can sub in when needed or just watch the games.

  30. Can I use the other facilities within the College’s Wellness Centre?

    • Only the change rooms, showers, washrooms, sauna and volleyball court are available to you on your scheduled game night.

  31. Where do I park at the College?

    • You can park in any “Green” parking lot, like lot “A”.

  32. Can I bring my kids or invite someone to watch my games?

    • Sorry, only the players from the scheduled teams and any officials can be in the gym.
