Code of Conduct

Updated: July 3, 2025

Purpose

Funtime Volleyball is a community-based adult recreational league committed to providing a fun, inclusive, and respectful environment for all players. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected of all participants and provides guidance on how concerns will be addressed.

A.    General Conduct Expectations

All players, team representatives, volunteers, and spectators must:

  1. Treat others with respect, fairness, and courtesy both on and off the court.

  2. Refrain from any form of discrimination, harassment, or abusive behaviour, including verbal, physical, or written abuse (including texts, emails, or social media).

  3. Honour the spirit of recreational play and maintain good sportsmanship at all times.

  4. Follow league rules, schedules, and guidelines as communicated by the league coordinator(s).

  5. Respect the authority of referees, scorekeepers, and league officials.

B.    Safety & Wellbeing

Funtime Volleyball is committed to creating a safe and welcoming space for all adult participants. While our league is for adults only (18+), all players are expected to conduct themselves in a way that does not put others at risk or cause harm.

Players must not:

  1. Engage in threatening, intimidating, or violent behaviour.

  2. Attend games or events while under the influence of drugs or alcohol to the point of impairing judgement or gameplay.

  3. Participate in any form of conduct that may reasonably be considered unsafe, unlawful, or grossly inappropriate.

C.    Allegations of Misconduct

Funtime Volleyball is not a legal body and does not have the authority or resources to investigate criminal matters.

a.   However, the league takes all serious concerns seriously, especially those involving:

  1. Allegations of harassment or abuse;

  2. Criminal activity that could compromise the safety or wellbeing of others;

  3. Any conduct that may bring the league into disrepute.

b.   If a credible concern is raised, the league reserves the right to:

  1. Request additional information from involved parties;

  2. Temporarily suspend participation pending further review;

  3. Remove a player from the league or refuse future participation based on available information and in the best interest of the league community.

Participants are encouraged to report serious concerns to the appropriate legal authorities when applicable.

D.    Conflict Resolution

Minor disputes or disagreements between players should be handled respectfully and, whenever possible, privately between the individuals involved. If needed, players may escalate concerns to the league coordinator, who will assess the matter and make a final decision.

E.    Hall of Fame, Awards & Recognition

All league honours, including Hall of Fame listings, are intended to celebrate participation and sportsmanship. Funtime Volleyball reserves the right to remove individuals from honours or recognitions if their conduct is deemed to conflict with the values of the league or this Code of Conduct.

F.    Agreement to Terms

By participating in Funtime Volleyball, all players agree to uphold this Code of Conduct. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action, including warnings, suspensions, or removal from the league.

Thank you for helping us keep Funtime Volleyball fun, fair, and safe for everyone.
